Reiki for Pain Relief — In Person & Online | Burke, VA
If you’re dealing with ongoing pain, tension, or migraines and nothing has fully helped, Reiki offers a gentle way to support your body in settling and softening.

If you’re dealing with physical pain — whether it’s ongoing tension, headaches, or something that just won’t seem to fully settle — you may have come across Reiki as an option.
And if you’re wondering whether it can actually help, you’re not alone.
Many clients who come in for Reiki aren’t just feeling stressed or emotionally overwhelmed — they’re also dealing with very real physical discomfort. Things like tight shoulders, back pain, headaches, migraines, or a general sense that their body feels tense or “off.”
This was actually how I found Reiki myself — not from a spiritual place, but while looking for support with physical pain.
If this is something you’re currently dealing with, you’re welcome to book a session or explore what might feel supportive for you.
Pain Isn’t Always Just Physical
Something I’ve seen again and again — both personally and with clients — is that pain doesn’t always exist in isolation.
Sometimes it’s tied to:
stress that hasn’t fully settled
long periods of tension in the body
emotional experiences that haven’t had space to process
a nervous system that’s been in “go mode” for too long
That doesn’t mean the pain isn’t real — it absolutely is.
But it can mean that the body is holding more than just physical strain.
I’ve also had clients come in with conditions like fibromyalgia, where the experience of pain is often complex and layered. In those cases, the focus isn’t on “fixing” the condition, but on supporting the body in feeling safer, more settled, and less overwhelmed by what it’s holding.
How Reiki Helps the Body Settle
Reiki doesn’t work by “fixing” a specific symptom, but it can be directed with intention.
Sometimes that means focusing more attention on a specific area of the body where discomfort is being felt. Other times, the session is approached more holistically — supporting the entire system, especially when the root of the discomfort feels more connected to stress or overall overwhelm.
During a session, the focus is on helping your body:
settle out of stress mode
relax more deeply than it might on its own
release areas of held tension
return to a more balanced state
When the body is able to relax and regulate, it can sometimes begin to shift patterns that have been contributing to discomfort.
Real-Life Examples
This shows up in different ways depending on the person.
For me, I’ve received Reiki specifically for leg pain, with the practitioner focusing more directly on that area. That kind of focused support can help the body soften around tension and discomfort.
For Becca, it looks different. When she’s dealing with migraines, we typically approach it from a whole-body perspective, since hers tend to be more connected to stress and nervous system overload. The goal there is helping the entire system settle, rather than only focusing on the head.
I also see clients with chronic or ongoing pain — including conditions like fibromyalgia — who aren’t necessarily expecting the pain to disappear, but are looking for support in how their body is holding and experiencing it. Often, what shifts first is a sense of ease, softness, or feeling more comfortable in their body.
What You Might Feel During a Session
Each session is different, but many people describe:
warmth or gentle tingling
a sense of heaviness or deep relaxation
the feeling of tension gradually softening
sometimes even emotional release
There’s no pressure for anything to happen — your body leads the experience.

Who This Can Be Supportive For
Reiki may be worth exploring if you’re experiencing:
chronic tension or tightness
stress-related discomfort
headaches or migraines
conditions where pain feels ongoing or layered
a feeling that your body hasn’t fully relaxed in a long time
A Gentle Way to Support Your Body
Reiki isn’t about forcing change or “fixing” something quickly.
It’s about giving your body the space to settle, reset, and move toward balance in its own way.
And sometimes, that shift alone can make a meaningful difference in how pain is experienced.
If This Feels Like a Yes
If this feels like something your body has been asking for, you’re welcome to book a session — in person or online.
You don’t have to wait until it feels overwhelming to come in.
And if you’re not sure, that’s okay too. You can always reach out with questions or take your time exploring what feels right for you.
